The idea that you can shrink your pores is, unfortunately, a myth. Pores are supposed to be tiny, so they shouldn’t be visible, right? Yet some of us struggle with larger pores that can easily be seen, and they end up being a source of insecurity for many. Pore size is genetically determined, so you can’t physically make your pores smaller. However, there are a few things you can do to minimize the appearance of your pores, which is a saving grace for many women (and men!) who are insecure about their skin, thanks to noticeable pores.

1. Keep Your Face Clean

When pores are filled with dirt, they become clogged, causing them to expand and look larger. Wash your face daily with a gentle cleanser. Always wash your face before bed to remove any extra dirt and grease. Remember to use clean makeup brushes, and never touch your face with your hands.wash face

2. Use a Primer

Makeup can be a great tool for expression. If you feel insecure about the size of your pores, use a primer before putting on your foundation. Blurring foundations even out the appearance of pores to make them less noticeable.

3. Stay Hydrated

Drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep your skin hydrated, and don’t forget to add a safe and natural moisturizer to your skin care routine. Moisturizer can help shrink your pores by plumping up the surrounding skin.shutterstock_199262555

4. Use Sunscreen

UV radiation breaks down collagen and elastin, which expands the pores. To prevent your pores from becoming enlarged, protect yourself from the sun with an organic sunscreen, free of harsh chemicals.

5. Get a Facial

Extraction and exfoliation can help clean out your pores to promote clearer and healthier skin. If a fancy spa facial isn’t in your budget, try out one of the natural and effective home remedies below to lessen the appearance of pores!
