It happens to most of us. We are going happily about our days when suddenly sinus congestion hits! Breathing becomes more difficult, and we sound awful. (Forget about pronouncing those Ms and Ns correctly!)
Sinus congestion is an annoying problem and often a sign of another health issue. Sometimes the body needs to work through the sickness one is currently experiencing, but congestion free is best and probably preferred. There are other problems that can occur when one is congested for too long.
There are many different causes of sinus congestion.
Some include:
- Infections
- Colds
- The Flu
- Allergies
- Irritants like Cigarette Smoke

Extreme nasal congestion can even lead to sinus pain. Sinus pain is a sharp pain located behind the nose and the eyes. It can also cause earaches, toothaches, and headaches. (Source) Sinus pain is terrible, to say the least.
I suffer from sinus pain during allergy season, when the air is dry, or when I am experiencing a cold. I always try to pursue natural options before using over-the-counter medication.
Most people will reach for medicine to relieve congestion or sinus pain. However, what if there was a better and quicker option?
