These days, you will commonly find it in several scented products. This sweet, earthy-scented oil is extracted from the leaves of the Patchouli plant through the process of steam distillation. The bushy herb produces small, pink flowers and grows about two or three feet tall. Patchouli oil’s strong scent has been used in perfumes, incense and even insect repellents.
