Throughout the years, many vocal artists have attempted to cover Bill Withers’s incredible song, “Ain’t No Sunshine”. And while there have been many wonderful performances of this classic, most have fallen short, until now.
Smooth as butter, Ed Sheeran’s rendition of “Ain’t No Sunshine” will leave you begging for more of that sweet, soulful voice.
The video below showcases Sheeran’s appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. The singer-songwriter appeared on the show to honor Withers ahead of his Carnegie Hall tribute concert Thursday night. In addition to Sheeran, many other musicians will perform during that show.
Sheeran has covered many songs as of late, including Beyonce’s “Drunk in Love” and Britney Spears’ “Baby One More Time”. While he’s been covering “Drunk” for years, only recently did he get the opportunity to perform it with Beyonce herself! And some have even gone so far as to say Sheeran’s covers are improvements on the originals!
But this latest cover just might take the cake—and with Sheeran’s amazing voice, that really is saying something! Suave and comfortable in a flannel shirt, Sheeran delivers audible joy, transporting you to another place as you listen.
